Pierced Septums @ Fashion Week

Well, seems another one of my 2014 trend predictions is coming true. I've been noticing more pierced septums popping up in my WWD Fashion Week (NYC, Paris, London, Milan) Tumblr feed. I'm not pissed it's going more mainstream...since more jewelry options are sure to follow!

You guys think the trend will stop with the goths and fashionistas, or do you think it'll go more mainstream?

  1. Hard to imagine people will wear such a thing, even to special occasions, I mean you can´t ever eat and drink with it. I hope it won´t go far :)

  2. I love my septum and think one reason it's getting so big is because it's easy to get fake ones or to hide the holes after removal unlike some other piercings.

    1. yeah agreed. I'm sure most of the ones being worn for promo photos are fake, as well as the guy with the big one up there. Definitely one of the few piercings that requires little to no commitment.

  3. I don't think the elaborate or large septums will go mainstream, but they're definitely getting more popular - I agree with Cody on their ease of faking/hiding being a key factor.

    1. agreed with the large septum rings, even though I think that would be cool. Agreed with Cody's comment too... it's really a low-risk piercing and so, so easy to fake

  4. I really like the fancy cameo necklace on the second person! My friend got a small spetum ring and it never stopped her doing anything. I think it's just the one with the huge spike dangling from it that would get in the way! :P Apparently if you get an open front ring (I don't know the terminology) you can just flip it up to hide it and not have to take it out. I quite like the look, although the piercing in the little dent above the top lip is still my favourite to see on people.

    1. yeah that necklace is cool. It reminds me of Rene Lalique's necklaces. It doesn't really go with the very junior/teen horseshoe ring, IMO, but the person's overall look is still pretty cool. Yeah, I love medusa piercings too...especially with a septum ring. The symmetry is awesome.

  5. More decor for your face/more accessorizing?! I'm all about it ;) I had a septum ring since 14 and took into out about 5 years ago....now I have a nose ring to hang stuff off of ;)

  6. I wanted septum for a really long time and still I want it, but now I think it does not suit with my pierced lip... But i still like it on the others and my eye is just happy when I can see so many septums around me in the street, cause... mainstream or not, it looks great! But if I had my own, I would have different point of view and I would hate that it's "in" now.
